Homogeneity and Hybridity: Revisiting HUP

Frontier Ventures is happy to announce that we are hosting The Ralph D. Winter Memorial Lectureship March 3-5, 2022.

This year's theme will be centered around the homogeneous unit principle (HUP), which was an influential and controversial aspect of the church growth missiology of Donald McGavran, highlighted by a Consultation moderated by John Stott and sponsored by Lausanne in 1977. Today multiculturalism and hybridity appear ascendant, particularly in megacities around the world. We will be asking the question, "how do both homogeneity and hybridity impact the birth and growth of fellowships of Jesus followers, and of movements to Jesus which were the core concern of HUP theory?"

The Lectureship for 2022, will be held both virtually and onsite at Fuller Theological Seminary from March 3-5, 2022. A wide array of speakers from across the globe will reflect on how churches grow (how movements to Christ develop), particularly related to urbanization and ethnicity.

We'd love to have you join us!
